What Selank is, and what has been studied of it, almost all in rats
In short
Selank is a synthetic analogue of tuftsin, an immunoglobulin fragment. What has been published is mostly rat studies on memory, anxiety and withdrawal, many in Russian journals. It does not appear in the US medicines register and holds no European authorisation.
Selank is a synthetic analogue of tuftsin, a tetrapeptide the body produces from an immunoglobulin. A proline tail was added to the original fragment so it would resist degradation, the same strategy used to build Semax.
The shape of its evidence
The same as its family companion: almost everything published is rat studies, and much of it sits in Russian journals without an English abstract. A buyer wanting to check for themselves what they read about this compound will hit that barrier, and it is better to know beforehand.
What has been studied
- Memory and alcohol, in rats. In rats given ethanol as their only source of fluid for thirty weeks, the compound prevented the memory and attention disturbances appearing during withdrawal, and altered brain-derived neurotrophic factor content in the hippocampus and frontal cortex [1].
- Morphine withdrawal, in rats. Another paper described attenuation of the aversive signs of morphine withdrawal [2].
- Gene expression. One study analysed changes in the expression of genes for chemokines, cytokines and their receptors in response to the compound and its fragments [3].
- Anticoagulant effects. A comparative paper studied this property across the oligopeptide group it belongs to, alongside Semax [4].
None of the above is a trial in people. They are animal models, and what was observed in them was observed in rats.
Regulatory status, with the scope stated
A query to the US agency's public medicines register on 10 September 2026 returned no match for this active substance [5]. Nor does it hold a European authorisation. That is a statement about those two registers, not about every register in the world.

What to look at when comparing suppliers
- HPLC purity for the specific batch and identity confirmation, with a certificate you can read before buying.
- That claims come with a citation, and that the citation can be opened. This is the compound where the difference shows most.
- Real net content of the vial, not the nominal figure.
